# This Black Hole Is Spinning So Fast It Could Make Space Itself Rotate

Black hole Found spinning at a rate close to the speed of light.

Black holes have fascinated scientists since their discovery. While the concept of black holes is not new, scientists are particularly intrigued about a recent discovery of a black hole that is spinning at one of the highest speeds ever recorded.

A black hole was spotted by AstroSat, India’s first astronomy satellite, in 2016. The black hole was located in the star system 4U 1630-47. The hole was also noticed by NASA primarily due to the bursting out of X-rays.

Gas and dust finding its way into the black hole were causing the bursting out of X-rays that NASA and AstroSat observed. The black hole has a size of roughly ten times that of the sun. The X-rays also confirmed that the black hole is spinning at a very rapid pace.

## The power of making space rotate

NASA has stated that this black hole is spinning at a rate close to the maximum speed allowed that was determined by Albert Einstein in his Theory of Relativity. In other words, the black hole is spinning almost as fast as the speed of light. This observation is according to Rodrigo Nemmen, the lead researcher for the study of this black hole.

Measuring a black hole can be done either by the mass of the black hole or its spin rate. Spin rate ratios are between zero and one. This black hole is spinning at a rate of 0.9. This rate has been confirmed by AstroSat as well as NASA.

The theory also states that if a black hole is spinning at the rate this black hole is currently spinning at, it has the power of making space rotate.

Scientists are excited about the findings of this black hole because, if correct, they represent an opportunity to understand and observe the formation of galaxies.

In addition to this black hole, there are four other black holes with spin rates that can be classified as high.
